DESCRIPTION

Doug Foley runs a successful advertising agency and a popular podcast called the Happiness of Pursuit Podcast. He is passionate about helping entrepreneurs succeed because of what happened to his father and brother in their respective businesses.

The problem is there are only so many entrepreneurs he could help based on the “old model” he was using. There were only so many clients he could take on, so that limited the impact he wanted to make.

Thanks to NextLevelBusiness, he now has a clear plan for leveraging his talents and skills into a profitable “business-within-a-business” that allows Doug to make the difference he wants to make.

The best part is Doug now has clarity and a clear sense of direction that’ll help make his mission a reality. NextLevelBusiness is helping him avoid years of trial, error and testing on his way toward making the difference he wants to make in the world.

TRANSCRIPT

Hey everybody, I'm Doug Foley, owner of Foley Media from Toronto, Canada. So before signing up for next level scale, I was really struggling. I have a huge impact goal to help a thousand entrepreneurs create a $1 million business. But what was starting to happen with my agency after it quadrupled is my time was stuck. I didn't know what to do next. And I started to realise that there was no way I could reach my impact goal by strictly running an agency. So, I decided to jump in to emulate what I'd seen in Oli's success and how he's impacted more and more people.

So, I had looked at a number of masterminds. I've gone through a number of coaching programmes, different events, but what really drew me to scale was how genuine Oli was with the way in which he had built multiple businesses. But most importantly, it was based on principles. It wasn't about like, “Hey, this is the next growth hack.” And he truly took the time to understand what I wanted to accomplish in my own business, and then figure out a path to get there that helped me get to the impact goal.

But what was really shocking was it went beyond just the traditional business stuff. We started to uncover some of the blockers, like within life, with the way I built things and really started to put things in place. Even dealing with just some mindset stuff that had been unresolved that was limiting growth. I didn't have any real hesitations just because I had seen what Oli had built. And just from the free material he'd provided, I'd already gotten impact from. So I knew like I was going to get a result, but I did… I'll be honest, like when I first looked at the investment, I was like, “This is something big.”

But I knew that investing in myself was going to force me to take action. And just since starting a little under six months ago, I've doubled the investment back just by applying some of the principles we've learned. So, one of the biggest limitations I had when my agency grew so fast is we were restricted by what we could accomplish because I was at the point where I had to either hire a lot of people to continue to grow or change my model.

So, one of the big things we did is we started to do some organic outreach about coaching and we ended up hiring some coaching clients, which, to be honest, the margins were way better. They were far more profitable. Just this week we closed another coaching client, which we'll go into what will become our mastermind programme. And that alone, I can already see the impacts I'm making and the businesses we work with are impact businesses so that they too are going to be adding to other people's growth. And that's the only way I could really get the compound effect. But it really came down to changing into that leverage programme model, as opposed to a fulfilment model where that requires more people, more time. It was never really that scalable.

The biggest thing I would say is the camaraderie and common thinking. Most masterminds I feel are really based on extraction. This community, this group, and this methodology really is about like the common good and helping one another grow.

“My life was pretty awesome before I joined Next Level, and yet I knew that there was so much more I could be doing with the time freedom I already enjoyed if I understood the systems and the processes that would help me automate things in the entrepreneurial businesses I was growing as well as in my practise. I knew I was standing in my own way, but I didn’t really understand how. I thought it was all about the fact that I didn’t have systems in place.”
